SIM collects different types of information from several points. The legal bases for SIM’s processing of personal data are primarily that the data is necessary for providing the best service possible and is directly in line with the SIM Terms and Conditions. The processing is carried out in SIM’s legitimate interests, which is explained in chapter 4. It is also possible that we ask consent for the data in case we deem this appropriate.

SIM also collects data about the pages you visit and the frequency of your visits. For this, we will not save any personal information. It will contribute to anonymous statistics in order to improve our website and database platform.

 The data is collected by tools we use for our service improvement, such as Google Analytics and Hotjar. The data may also be collected by our team members, in order to perform supply chain mapping or other of our provided services.

When entering fields for downloads or the contact form, your details will automatically be collected by our website.

 Personal data are collected in the context of:

– Downloading a whitepaper
– Filling out a contact form on the contact page
– Visiting the website
– Use of the SIM database; via the website and/or the app
– Subscribing for a newsletter and/or the blog
– Incoming our outgoing communication with SIM

SIM collects data for the website in order to ensure the best possible experience when visiting our page. By collecting (anonymous) data about your visit, we can ensure we adjust our pages whenever necessary and make sure to track the information you found most valuable to read. Consequentially, you help us improve our services over time, for which we thank you. SIM shall not disclose any information to third parties, unless it is necessary for improvement of the services, for example to software providers, datacenters or external consultants.

SIM also collects data through the SIM Database in order to effectively map and bring insight to supply chains. We do this in full correspondence with our customers and ensure the information is only used on the platform and not shared with any third parties.


  1. How long is the data stored for?

Personal data will only be stored as long as deemed necessary in relation to the initial purpose of processing. When the requirements no longer exist, the data will be removed from our databases. It will be deemed necessary for as long as the individual receives emails, phone calls, or other materials from SIM in order to stay updated on our services or connected to our customers. In case the individual unsubscribes from our services, there will no longer be a legal basis for SIM to store the data to her platforms, hence the information will be removed. In case the individual wishes to re-subscribe, it will be possible in line with the rights of erasure. For the CRM system, all personal data will be stored for a length of 2 years or until the individual unsubscribes or as long as the contract with a customer remains active.

All data is regularly checked and updated by SIM. SIM will do anything within its right and power to make sure outdated or incorrect data is removed from all databases or adjusted if requested from the individual.

The right to be informed

The individual has the right to access his or her data at any point in time. This means getting insight into the data that is saved, the purpose for the saved data, and the legal basis of processing.


The right of rectification
The individual has the right to, at any point in time, obtain from SIM rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning him or her. The person will have right to have incomplete personal data completed. If any changes occur to the personal data, the individual must notify such changes to SIM.

The right of erasure
The individual has the right to be removed from the database in case he or she no longer wishes to have the data stored by SIM.


The right to restrict processing
The individual has the right to request restrict processing of the data, meaning the extent in which we store personal data can be determined.


The right to data portability
The individual has the right to receive any personal data that is concerning him or her in a machine readable format and is deemed technically appropriate and to be retained by the individual for private use.

In certain circumstances, individuals are entitled to object to the information that is used or processed from them.
